Julienne, a resident of the Kingabwa district in the commune of Limete, stands in front of her door, waiting for her children who have gone to school by canoe. Julienne’s community has experienced flooding for years now, but this time she did not have anywhere else to go, so she stayed in her flooded home. MSF logistical and medical teams work with the Ministry of Health to offer assistance to 400 households affected, including installing latrines and showers, providing tents and drinking water and conducting mobile medical clinics. BRAZIL
MSF works with communities in the Auaris region to reduce malaria infections. The disease is endemic across the greater Amazon region, where the Yanomami Indigenous Territory is located. MSF also works with the Yanomami and Ye’kwana branches of the Indigenous Health System by providing primary healthcare, mental health and health promotion services. Our multidisciplinary team of roughly 20 staff includes doctors, psychologists, nurses, microscopists, health promoters, anthropologists and intercultural mediators.
